Michelle Atherley

Team USA Heptathlete

Michelle Atherley is an American heptathlete who has been competing for Team USA since 2022. She won the World Athletics Combined Events Tour in 2024, which recognized her season-long consistency and earned her a $30,000 prize.

Michelle had a standout collegiate career at the University of Miami after transferring from Auburn. She won the NCAA Indoor Pentathlon Championship in 2019, becoming the only University of Miami athlete to claim that title. She also won multiple ACC Championships during her time with the Hurricanes, establishing herself as one of the most dominant multi-event athletes in the program's history.

Michelle competed at the 2022 World Athletics Championships and continues to compete at the international level. She currently ranks 13th in the world in the heptathlon with a personal best of 6,465 points. Beyond competing, Michelle has served as a regular coach for the Coconut Grove Run Club since 2023, giving back to the South Florida track community where she got her start.
