Alex Young

Team USA Hammer Thrower

Alex Young is an American hammer thrower who represented the United States at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He competed collegiately at Southeastern Louisiana University where he broke school records and was named the 2016-17 Southeastern Male Athlete of the Year.

Alex qualified for the Tokyo Olympics by finishing third at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials with a personal best throw of 256 feet and 11 inches. He's also a three-time World Championships participant for Team USA, finishing 20th in 2017 and 12th in 2022. Alex trains at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and has persevered through the challenges of being a professional athlete to compete at the international level.
