Ben Gummer is obsessed with trees… not a coincidence for the tree-like structure of the Ben Bridge (Upper Orwell Crossings) and not the originally intended basic structure?
We can reveal that Chopstix Noodle Bar intends to open in Unit 8 of Sailmakers.
Chopstix (if granted planning consent) will then be rivalling Wagamama in Buttermarket Centre.

Two new representations have since appeared online (I checked the following day after the deadline and none appeared, the department seems very slow and relaxed about adding them to the online system)…
I dont think that it is disabled friendly because there are steps. The water feature is not
suitable for the area. 3.5 Million could be better…
It is of great sadness to reveal the Ipswich Waterfront Town dream has died after 15 years in the making. The visionaries (Ipswich Vision Group) have deviated from the original planning intention and are desperately trying to do something within their powers to stay in power. These public-funded clowns won’t be giving up however; perseverance is a…[Read more]
The communication I have had with Cllr Finch is poor.
We tried to get in on the Park & Ride discussion. He (and SCC) were far from helpful. Sent a letter and an email on two different matters. If I recall correctly, the letter was addressed to him and the email was to someone else that got forwarded on to him. One he refused to deal with and the…[Read more]
Almost 3 years ago Ipswich Borough Council held an design competition to create a “stunning entrance” to the Ipswich Waterfront from Stoke Bridge end. At the time, Ipswich residents weren’t convinced and ever since New Year 2015 it appears this has all disappeared to be forgotten about.

It seems Ben Gummer’s newest child has designed his 2017 General Election campaign graphic… Talk about keeping it in the family. #IpswichRising VOTE Ben Gummer for Ipswich all on to of the Upper Orwell Crossings graphic.
(We don’t suggest actually voting for him)

Martin I have been looking into it but haven’t discovered why this happens. The WYSIWYG editor causes similar problems for me sometimes in Google Chrome. I have searched Google for bugs in the software and looked through the code without any success.

Ben delivers a petition to 10 Downing Street. When the government revealed that it wanted to close four post offices in Ipswich, Ben fought back. He went to Downing Street with a thousand signatures on his petition, and continued the high-level lobbying of Royal Mail. He explained to…
Ben Gummer’s 2008 priorities (parliamentary candidate)
My first priority is to save Ipswich Hospital.
The government wants to reduce it to a glorified treatment centre. This will force Ipswich patients with serious medical conditions to travel an hour and a half to get treatment. While this is good for NHS accountants, it is…

Ipswich Waterfront-based University of Suffolk has entered the Complete University Guide for the first time. Placed at 129 it is nothing to write home about however due to the newness of the university, it can only really climb the table (or so we all hope!). Academics have said this is due to not being able to submit data for all the…[Read more]
Those who criticise Ipswich are missing its finer features. It’s a shopper’s paradise if your taste is for pound-shops. And whilst in the town centre, pause awhile to admire the quality of chipboard used to board up those premises awaiting tenants. Stop to chat with the street-drinking fraternity gathered outside the old Odeon building, itself an…
Just over 5 years ago Ipswich callers phoned up a BBC Radio Suffolk breakfast show presented by current Ipswich Central chairman Terry Baxter to give their views on the town. Ben Gummer MP was shocked and angered over people commented on how “shabby and rundown” the town is with others going to extremes calling it a “cesspit” and “hell hole”.…[Read more]

CLAIRE, SIXTH-FORM STUDENT (CENTRAL IPSWICH)
“With the cost of university going up and up, and training places in short supply, I know that leaving school is a worry to most students”, says Ben. “That is why we will do all we can to help people venturing out into the wo…

The Best Schools
For too long Suffolk schools have not been good enough. Ben has worked hard to change this already – supporting good head teachers, bringing Teach First to Ipswich, and winning the money to rebuild Ipswich Academy and Chantry Academy, as well as classrooms across the town.
Ben Gummer wrote his “Vision 2020” for the town. Just utilising the content from his website, lets compare what content it contained in 2015 and what it contains now after the snap General Election had been announced – and approved by MPs. 2015 version…

Ben Gummer on County Hall:-
[…] What has not gone well is the life of this building ever since. More important for what has happened there than how it looks, it provides an unhappy footnote in our nation’s history – the last public hanging in Suffolk and the place where Wallis Simpson was granted her divorce. You can feel the bad…
Ipswi started the topic The Link scrapped plan another nail in Ipswich waterfront coffin in the forum Town Centre (Central Ipswich) 3 days, 6 hours ago
Archant’s old offices in Lower Brook Street were to be turned into “The Link” – an architecturally brilliant mixed office, retail, leisure, hotel and multi-storey car park development. Penn Commercial as agent and Wrenbridge as developer. Not an greyfriars disaster. Except, aiming for the floor, Ipswich is to get retirement housing development…[Read more]
