    • Profile photo of Ipswi Cornhill Redevelopment Planning Application Comments by Ipswi. 1 2

Various comments are now appearing since it was changed to FPI3. … I have been invited to comment on the above location by the Ipswich Society. My objection is very straightforward. Can IBC show who owns the actual Cornhill routes and places? As they know who block paved the area (IBC or SCC) with public funds it is obviously a public right of way. It has probably been a right of way for hundreds of years as it has been used by the public…

    • Profile photo of Ipswi The Upper Orwell Crossings a bridge too far? by Ipswi. 1 2

From Ipswich Society newsletter Ipswich Society April 2017 (issue 207):- Clever politicians throw their weight behind projects that are likely to succeed and avoid those that will be a long time coming. Thus we can guess that the proposals to build additional bridges over the Orwell and the New Cut are likely to happen sooner rather than later. However the rationale for the biggest of these bridges is debatable and the methodology used to establ…

    • Profile photo of Ipswi Stunning entrance gateway to Ipswich Waterfront by Ipswi.

Almost 3 years ago Ipswich Borough Council held an design competition to create a “stunning entrance” to the Ipswich Waterfront from Stoke Bridge end. At the time, Ipswich residents weren’t convinced and ever since New Year 2015 it appears this has all disappeared to be forgotten about. Ipswich Borough Council Press releases/news article 2014:- Plan for waterfront gateway Ipswich Borough Council is set to step in to kick-start …

So Ipswich MP Ben Gummer was instrumental into securing the £20m investment to complete Regatta Quay “Wine Rack” but he didn’t always see it as important. We have uncovered newspaper articles where Ben Gummer MP demanded the Wine Rack to be demolished (even at a cost of £1 million). Why the change of heart?EMPTY BUILDING MAY NEVER BE COMPLETED 23RD JULY 2011 | EAST ANGLIAN DAILY TIMES The empty skeleton of a huge developme…

Monday 24th April 2017 will be the last day for representations on the Cornhill Redevelopment project (IP/17/00235/FPI3). Unfortunately very few representations have been made through the normal planning application process even with Ipswich Society alerting its members. This goes for both positive representations and objections. This should have been another public consultation.

    • Profile photo of Ipswi Ipswich Society: A-Boards, a problem in Ipswich by Ipswi.

Ipswich Society has spoken out about A-Boards in their April 2017 newsletter making reference to what they call the “Tacket Street ‘A’ Board nirvana”, St Stephens Lane and M&S in Westgate Street. At last a move on the obstructions that blight the High Streets across the country.  A couple of councils in the north of England have moved to restrict the use of A Boards in shopping streets.
