The same old rhetoric from Ben Gummer “more to do” mandatory phrase following a claimed achievement. This time it is unemployment, which he proudly shows increased under his first two years as MP of Ipswich. We assume he is talking about Claimant Count instead of overall unemployment itself. he has a new hashtag, #IpswichWorking. We struggled to understand how he arrived at his figures on his graph.

We obtained ONS figures to the same period and his graph deliberately and deceptively understates the actual facts.
Claimant Count for Young People (18 to 24) in Ipswich for March 2017 is 335 people, his chart makes it look like 75-ish or none.
Claimant Count (25+) in Ipswich for March 2017 is 1525 people; Ben’s chart looks around 1250 for all ages… approx 610 less people…
Claimant Count for All Ages in Ipswich for March 2017 is 1,860 claimants of unemployment benefit.

He was instantly criticsed on Twitter querying how many are zero hour contracts or temp/casual…
@ben4ipswich How many of these jobs are zero hour contracts or temp/casual?
