Officer taken to hospital after police BMW involved in accident in Norwich Road, Ipswich

A police officer was taken to hospital this afternoon after his marked BMW was in collision with another car in Ipswich.

The accident occurred in Norwich Road, near to the junction of Kitchener Road, just after 2pm.

Two officers were in the police vehicle and a woman was in the other car.

The officers were on their way to assist colleagues who had been called to an incident when the accident occurred.

Anne-Marie Breach, a spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary, said the male driver of the police BMW is believed to have sustained a wrist injury.

He was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Hopefully both the policeman involved in the BMW marked police car and the public purse are both alright. Too much compensation given out in the police force.
