On Thursday at around 5.30pm outside M&S as I waited for someone (approx 10 minutes or so) I was approached by 3 people asking for money.
This is on the street in a busy part of town almost central – not outside rail station, on a bridge, alleyways or the like.
One of these people asked every single person he could see and when he kept hearing “No” or people ignoring or avoiding him he finally moved on.
One of which (not the one above) was very well groomed and strong smell of aftershave. His clothes not the best but not scruffy – at all. He was clean (probably only recently had a shower). Seemed as if he had recently ate and consumed fluids by the sound of his voice. Asking for money for food… homeless? very unlikely. thirsty? no. hungry? no. short of money? no.
The police need to do something about this. I am sure they wait for the Street Rangers to disappear before venturing along the 3 main streets.
