Anglian Water will be carrying out work in the Chantry and Stoke Park areas for about 18 months.
Work to replace a major water main in the Chantry and Stoke Park area of Ipswich is due to start on Tuesday.
Anglian Water is installing a new main to serve thousands of properties in that part of town. The whole project is costing £3.4m and will not be completed until the end of summer next year.
It will replace an old main which can lead to water being discoloured. It is one of the largest investment projects the company will undertake in Suffolk in 2017, with around 14km of water pipe to be replaced.
Most affected roads: Mallard Way, Tern Road, Stone Lodge Lane West, Belstead Road, Luther Road, Stoke Park Drive, Fountains Road
