    • Profile photo of Peter Turtill Boring old rights of way. by Peter Turtill.

Together with John Hunt I fought to have the established routes through and around the dock listed as rights of way as created by the Ipswich Dock Acts 1805-2012. Suffolk County Council (SCC) decided to jump aboard and claim their own RoW across the lock but they were just putting on a show even to the extent of getting a QC’s opinion of an appeal when the claim failed. Of course my claim failed by the same reasoning decided by the Governm…

    • Profile photo of Ipswi Ben Gummer Vision 2020 2 year review by Ipswi.

Ben Gummer wrote his “Vision 2020” for the town. Just utilising the content from his website, lets compare what content it contained in 2015 and what it contains now after the snap General Election had been announced – and approved by MPs. 2015 version… The Best Schools For too long Suffolk schools have not been good enough. Ben has worked hard to change this already – supporting good head teachers, bringing Teach First…

    • Profile photo of Ipswi Cornhill Redevelopment Planning Application Comments by Ipswi.

Various comments are now appearing since it was changed to FPI3. … I have been invited to comment on the above location by the Ipswich Society. My objection is very straightforward. Can IBC show who owns the actual Cornhill routes and places? As they know who block paved the area (IBC or SCC) with public funds it is obviously a public right of way. It has probably been a right of way for hundreds of years as it has been used by the public…

    • Profile photo of Ipswi Ipswich Waterfront Town dream has died by Ipswi.

It is of great sadness to reveal the Ipswich Waterfront Town dream has died after 15 years in the making. The visionaries (Ipswich Vision Group) have deviated from the original planning intention and are desperately trying to do something within their powers to stay in power. These public-funded clowns won’t be giving up however; perseverance is a good quality but so is knowing when it is time to give up! Being stubborn to collect miniatur…

From Ipswich Society newsletter Ipswich Society April 2017 (issue 207):- Clever politicians throw their weight behind projects that are likely to succeed and avoid those that will be a long time coming. Thus we can guess that the proposals to build additional bridges over the Orwell and the New Cut are likely to happen sooner rather than later. However the rationale for the biggest of these bridges is debatable and the methodology used to establ…

Almost 3 years ago Ipswich Borough Council held an design competition to create a “stunning entrance” to the Ipswich Waterfront from Stoke Bridge end. At the time, Ipswich residents weren’t convinced and ever since New Year 2015 it appears this has all disappeared to be forgotten about. Ipswich Borough Council Press releases/news article 2014:- Plan for waterfront gateway Ipswich Borough Council is set to step in to kick-start …

Benedict Michael Gummer (Ben Gummer) has been our MP for coming up to 7 years now after defeating Chris Mole at the 2010 General Election. This topic will serve for all discussions directly relating to Ben Gummer. Ben Gummer Contract Ben’s Contract with Ipswich Voters. Many people have lost their faith in politicians. Voters are fed up with the lies and the failure to deliver real change. I want to be different. That is why I have drawn up…

    • Profile photo of Ipswi Ipswich Waterfront by Ipswi.

Ipswich Waterfront: Time to pull the plug? For many the Ipswich Waterfront is a 21st century project but digging into the history a little, the project is over 30 years old with early steps in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and despite being the sole tourism focus for Ipswich town we have very little to show for it. Ever since the Star Lane gyratory was built, alternative uses for the Wet Dock were sought. This included early developments of re…

    • Profile photo of Ipswi Cornhill Redevelopment deadline approaching by Ipswi.

Monday 24th April 2017 will be the last day for representations on the Cornhill Redevelopment project (IP/17/00235/FPI3). Unfortunately very few representations have been made through the normal planning application process even with Ipswich Society alerting its members. This goes for both positive representations and objections. This should have been another public consultation.
