How ridiculous! Normal people braving the elements for one night - basically urban camping - supervised to impersonate a homeless person in order to raise some money...

Homelessness isn't about sleeping outside Suffolk County Council to raise money - or sleeping on the street for one night. I think anyone who identifies this solely as what homelessness is, is missing the point.

An event - regardless of the fundraising element - to glamorise a vague understanding of what homelessness is about, is severely misguided - and makes fun of the predicament many people find themselves in.

I agree, its just patronising to the people who are suffering genuine hardship...

I am pretty sure half of all Ipswich's hotel rooms are vacant. Despite what you hear about our booming tourism industry of people coming here by coach; there isn't much draw to get anywhere near capacity. We have the relatively new travelodge, premier inn, pentahotel and marstons inn hotels. There is also many empty residential properties. Ipswich Foyer closed.

The reason why this problem would never be solved is there are always gravy train organisations to soak up public monies... currently budgets are squeezed but before you know it, the problem will get so big councils will be forced to dig deep... and a queue of these organisations will form.

Ben Gummer & co blamed neighbouring councils for dumping their homeless people on us; no indication that the very central government's austerity policy caused the problems in the first place!
