    yep, been there done that. Solid traffic from bottom of Wherstead Hill to the traffic lights near the railway bridge, took about 15 minutes at 4.00pm along that short stretch and queue trying to get out of town must stretch all the way back up Bishops Hill i reckon, as no breaks in it at all I could see.
    Looked like gas works, I assume emergency work, if not then badly planned.. Star says it BT, hmm..

    Damn. If memory serves me right BT is due to undertake planned roadworks in Wherstead Road sometime this month, Ipswich Star just presumed... as you state it is actually emergency gas repairs.



    This was around 30 mins ago...

    It looks like southbound Wherstead Road were queuing back to past Civic Drive roundabout traffic lights. Which as you can see has gridlock the Bridge Strete roundabouts, the southern part of the Star Lane gyratory and traffic queuing up Bishops Hill to past Nacton Road junction. This is post-rush hour. Hopefully they haven't been waiting too long!
