We could do with similar in Ipswich, but it would only consist of organisations like Ipswich Central who don't have a clue but might know a couple of associated entrepreneurs who could help.

one way they can attract more investment to Felixstowe is remove the bottleneck of the Orwell Bridge and give the area an alternative route. As for boosting tourism, well its Felixstowe, its not the Costa del Sol... ;)

I think you are right - Felixstowe investment now is all about industry.

They have no chance of boosting tourism as they refused to recognise Ipswich. If they could unite with Ipswich - perhaps as an Orwell Unitary Authority - both towns will have many shared benefits including encouraging more people from Ipswich to visit Felixstowe on a sunny day (day visitors) therefore the investment would encourage people from further afield who would stay overnight for holiday. This attitude has strengthened Ipswich Waterfront as a destination for locals, where before the regeneration would have likely headed to Felixstowe.

Instead, the council there doesn't want to modernise anything so it remains run down... they have done quite a good job on retail... I visited last year expecting To Let signs but all units in the main area were occupied. They could sort that flipping train station out though. :D Too many people in the Ipswich area travel to Clacton, Southwold, Great Yarmouth and even Southend. Felixstowe remains more aimed at older people. Unfortunately, Ipswich still got the retirement home boom, Felixstowe would have been better placed.
