Oh my, Ipswich Borough Council acquired Anglia Retail Park?

    What about the town centre?

is there some confusion in the Star article? it refers to the unit on Europa Way but then shows the photo and caption about buying Anglia retail park, the two are not related.. It doesn't mention Anglia retail park in the article...

I did notice that but it clearly mentions Anglia Retail Park and has a photo of it.... furthermore there is no way you could spend (even in the public sector) an 8 figure sum on Europa Way building! Articles states £3.5m. This along with the planning document for the planned distribution centre behind Anglia Retail Park which is apparently part owned by the borough (says the agenda item) and Ipswich Buses creating a bus service going there... I will assume it is owned by Ipswich Borough Assets... (if the information is incorrect I am going to look like a right idiot lol) and Ipswich Star just left out part of the article.

I did find it amusing that they intended to build council homes on the small bit of land near the A14... I don't know what the obsession is of IBC building few council homes here and there... either build a lot or none at all? Council homes are probably a safer bet than commercial rental income?

However, I have now printed the page to PDF to cite the source just in case the article changes (as attached!)

Why did they buy Portman House? This is quite significant as Archant hailed it, wait... I will quote (the CEO no less)....

...yet they have offloaded it at the nearest opportunity. 18 months?

I guess this is why they have the stance of not getting involved with Ipswich Market and the Cornhill!

Correction: Archant didn't hold it for a year, funny enough no mention of this until after a year later.
