  • Cardinal Park leisure terrace

Ipswich is getting a new restaurant complex... actually Cardinal Park is to fight back against Buttermarket Centre with a face-lift along with outside seating. The existing leisure complex terrace attempt at a futuristic look has always looked pretty terrible, which has become so awkwardly terrible like the vacant Odeon building. This surely has to look better than the existing mess? I don't think the al-fresco dinning works here but others may appreciate the opportunity to have a cheeky... Cardinal Park leisure terrace

  • The Easy Hotel, what's happening?

The site of the new Easy Hotel in Northgate Street looks to have been abandoned. Someone I know who works adjacent tells me the workers have not been on site for a month or so now. Scaffold was put up and never used, then taken down again, and the office the builders have over the road in the former restaurant hasn't seen any activity in ages. Has the project fallen through?

  • Parking in Arras Square, St Stephens Lane

Still a big problem with no sign of any action from either SCC of IBC. So far as we understand their is a Traffic Order preventing parking but as there are no signs up it can't be enforced. IBC would be responsible for the enforcement but they have advised us that they are waiting for SCC to sort out the signs. SCC also advise that there are potential land ownership issues that may be complicating the issue. Bottom line is we can't get a definitive answer from anyone about exactly what is... • Chewing gum!

It's become and epidemic! I've just walked most of Tavern St and Upper Brook St and the pavings are absolutely plastered with chewing gum! I doubt you could find a square meter without a bit, it truly is horrible. It used to be the concentration of it would be outside pubs, clubs or takeaways where people throw it away before eating but now, its everywhere! As someone who doesn't often chew gum and would never even think to spit it out on the ground where is it all coming from ? I was... Chewing gum!

  • Gas supplies shortages

ITV evening news, 01-03-2018 We have only had a few bad days of weather -- yet according to the news tonight we are already running short of gas -- is it not time to start fracking according -- to those who know we have a 100 year supply just waiting -- I would like to know the views of others on this question -- I myself am all for it -- but if we do go ahead I say do not flog it to other countries like we have done with oil and water supplies -- just for once lets be greedy and keep it... • Thursday 1 March 18 observations!

We are in the grip of the beast from the east! Some may have scoffed a bit by the dire predictions of some of the tabloid papers with their weather forecasts last week but whilst its not yet hit -20 it may as well have for all the disruption a few cold days and a bit of snow have had! We, that being the UK, simply have no resilience do we, from the infrastructure to the people. Should we be better than this? I think we should, I think we used to be, but the current weather has stopped many... Thursday 1 March 18 observations!

  • What's The Hold Up With The Suffolk Record Office?

A project which has been in the background for many years and formally adopted in 2015. A joint venture between Suffolk County Council and University of Suffolk, there has been some significant attempt by both relevant local councils - Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk County Council - into off-loading council assets gifted to the struggling new university. Ipswich Museum & Art School was one of them - to have been developed as what would have been the university's north Ipswich campus... What's The Hold Up With The Suffolk Record Office?

  • The Link scrapped plan another nail in Ipswich waterfront coffin

Archant's old offices in Lower Brook Street were to be turned into "<strong>The Link</strong>" - an architecturally brilliant mixed office, retail, leisure, hotel and multi-storey car park development. Penn Commercial as agent and Wrenbridge as developer. Not an greyfriars disaster. Except, aiming for the floor, Ipswich is to get retirement housing development instead. The Link wasn't that ambitious. CGI drawings hint at a Waitrose on ground floor. £20m of finance has been found for the Wine... The Link scrapped plan another nail in Ipswich waterfront coffin
