  • [Tesco] Jack's supermarket aimed at eurosceptic xenophobes

I am absolutely disgusted at Tesco's latest venture... "Jack's" which is nothing more than a marketing con trick aimed at xenophobes who are typically under-educated chavs, football hooligans and benefit claimants. A similar clientele which perceive Poundland as exceptional value due to not being able to add up. Are Tesco clever to jump on the bandwagon of Brexit to attempt to reduce market share being further lost... [Tesco] Jack's supermarket aimed at eurosceptic xenophobes

  • Die Facebook!

Will Facebook ever fall the same way as social networking sites before it? Albeit for a very different reason. Active monthly membership keeps falling hence the TV adverts and now $120 billion wiped off its shares in just one day - a US record. Up until now some of the most wealthiest investors on the planet have been ploughing billions into a website that initially never made any profit just to build up a data base (not to be confused with database) on most of the... • What if England actually won the World Cup?

Theresa May will be really anxious at England's progress in the world cup. What if England actually won the World Cup? Her job will most certainly be gone - well, for her at least. With the uncertainty over Brexit it is possible something as significant as winning the FIFA World Cup but relatively insignificant in the grand scheme of things, could descend into an Uprising of sorts. This could... What if England actually won the World Cup?

  • Archant Ipswich Star, Privacy and Cookies

Archant must be making a mint encouraging the tracking of activities from people in Greater Ipswich who visit their website solely to find out the latest news. Due to the GDPR thing I was greeted with this box... So a long list of options (quite impressed - I know this is a third party script - but it is comprehensive) referred to as "Purposes" of "third-party vendors". This is what happens when you select "Show Purposes"... Archant Ipswich Star, Privacy and Cookies

  • From "East Anglia"... where?!

Leicestershire police have arrested a sixth person in connection of the horrific explosion in Hinckley Road, Leicester last week. Of these 6 suspects, 3 are from "East Anglia"... the legally defined NUTS 2 statistical unit comprising of the counties of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire (including the City of Peterborough unitary authority). So if not naming the suspects... or their town/city/village... why not name the county rather than the larger geographical area? The... From "East Anglia"... where?!

  • Maplin obituary

Good riddance! How on earth did Maplin of all companies fail?! I went on their website yesterday to my complete surprise they are no longer branded as "the electronics specialist" but "connecting brilliant ideas". Everyone will be quick to jump to the same conclusions about the internet with platforms such as Amazon to blame or brexit, but what really happened? Well let us first compare to the almighty Argos, Currys PC World, Rapid... Maplin obituary

  • Sandy Martin Christmas Column

At the foot of the 129 stairs that lead from the ground floor of the House of Commons right up to my little office in the attic, there is a bronze bust of Oliver Cromwell. On Monday, someone turned him round to face the wall. In 1647 Parliament, on the instructions of the “Lord Protector” Oliver Cromwell, decreed that Christmas should be abolished. The Puritans were incensed that anyone should celebrate a religious festival by enjoying themselves. On Christmas Day I – like most... Click to expand... Sandy Martin Christmas Column
